Our History
Following the 1969 drought George Mobbs found difficult times on his dairy farm, so turned his hand to another occupation - fencing. After being joined by his brother Jim and son Rodney, they secured contracts with local government agencies, The Mobbs brothers could not find reliable suppliers, and therefore began to source materials for themselves, and found there was a market to on-sell to the general public. Thus the beginning of Mobbs and Co.
In 1973 Rodney set himself up on the Mundubbera site, focussing primarily on the engineering and fabricating aspect of steel. Kym went on fencing and, in 1985 opened a steel supply business in Biloela and subsequently, in 1989 a branch in Rockhampton.
Our future
Through dedication and commitment, Mobbs and Co, a family operated business, had developed a loyal client base.
Previously operating as a supply only service in Biloela and Rockhampton, expansion has accommodated a manufacturing department in Biloela. We now have established branches at Mundubbera, Tamworth, Biloela and Rockhampton.
Since beginning operations in 1970 Mobbs & Co has become the name you can trust when wanting an exceptional standard of service. We take pride in our personal service, giving people the right advice and products to suit their individual needs.
Our focus has been on employing local staff. Our dedicated staff are helping us to raise awareness of our products that stand out not only for price, but especially for quality.
Customers have the comfort of knowing that we a preferred stockist of Orrcon steel which has its own quality assurance.
While Mobbs and Co have developed a quality reputation in the rural and engineering sectors we are looking to grow our coverage of the mining sector.
The Mobbs and Co group of companies is leading the way by already servicing several large organisations within the mining sector. We have developed a good network within the transport industry which is allowing us to branch into new areas in the Northern Territory & Western Australia.
